Hard-to-recycle items accepted during upcoming recycling event

Residents of Gwinnett County have the chance to properly dispose of hard-to-recycle items as part of America Recycles Day. On Saturday, Nov. 6, Gwinnett County Waste Management in a partnership with Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful will host a recycling event at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.

From 9 a.m. until noon, residents can bring their items that would otherwise be thrown into a landfill to be properly recycled. In addition to people being able to bring their hard-to-recycle items, Gwinnett County Waste Management and Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful wanted to bring a little fun into the event. Those who stop by can visit the touch-a-truck, meet their haulers, get refreshments and more.

The items that will be accepted as part of the America Recycles Day are:

  • Paper (shredding – up to five copier boxes)
  • Electronics ($35 cash fee per projection T.V., $15 cash fee per monitor and T.V., $5 cash fee per printer)
  • Tires (limit eight; no dealer tires)
  • Paint (limit 10 gallons per vehicle)
  • Clothing and sneakers

All items should be placed in disposable containers/boxes as the containers/boxes will not be returned.

America Recycles Day was started in 1997 by the National Recycling Coalition. The purpose of the event is to encourage Americans to commit to recycling.
