Curb Your Tree recycling event begins Jan. 1, curbside pickup will be Jan. 8

To help Alamogordo residents discard live Christmas trees, the City of Alamogordo Community Services Department and Keep Alamogordo Beautiful are hosting the annual Curb Your Tree event.

Those wishing to participate in Curb Your Tree are asked to put live Christmas trees in plain sight at the curb in front of their residence by 7 a.m. on Jan. 8. All decorations must be removed from the trees.

"Discarded trees will be picked up by volunteers and recycled by Keep Alamogordo Beautiful," a City of Alamogordo news release states.

Christmas tree mulch will be available for pick-up at the Alamogordo Convenience Center at 224 LaVelle Road beginning on Jan. 8 while supplies last, please bring your own bags, bins or buckets for pickup. Please note, the Convenience Center has regular tree mulch available year-round."

If a live tree is either ready before or not ready by Jan. 8 for pick-up, the City has two drop-off sites that accept live Christmas trees for recycling through the entire month of January.
