Electronics & Mattress Recycling Events To Be Held In Cheshire


CHESHIRE, CT — The Town of Cheshire will be holding an electronics recycling event on Saturday, March 19 and a mattress recycling event on Saturday, March 26.

Residents can drop off their electronic recyclables from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Quinnipiac Park, 1325 Cheshire St., according to officials.

Acceptable items to recycle include:

Computers/laptop/printer/keyboard/mouse/monitor; TV/VCR/DVD/remote; telephone/cellphone; fax machine; console; scanners; iPods/PDAs; stereo equipment, camera; tablet/eBooks; small appliances, lightbulbs, game consoles/controllers and batteries.

The following items are NOT accepted: 

smoke detectors, car batteries, and appliances containing Freon, including AC units, refrigerators, and dehumidifiers.

No other waste materials will be accepted, according to officials.

PLEASE NOTE: Some items such as computer and related equipment (printers etc.). TVs and stereo equipment, may be brought to CCRT, 22 Burton Drive, Cheshire, on any Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NO CHARGE. Limit of 7 items per visit.

Due to COVID-19 this will be a contactless drop off. Please have items in your trunk or bed of a truck.

MATTRESS RECYCLING EVENT

The Town of Cheshire is hosting a community wide Free Mattress Recycling Event on from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 26 at Quinnipiac Park, 1325 Cheshire St.

Cheshire residents may drop off their mattresses, box springs at no charge. Due to COVID, this will be a contactless disposal.

Items that will not be accepted include:

  • Mattresses from futons, sofa beds, water beds, car beds, crib mattresses
  • Mattresses infested with bed bugs
  • Mattresses that are wet, damaged, or excessively soiled
  • Sleeping Bags
  • Mattress pads, toppers, pillows, bedding
  • Furniture, other household items, garbage
