RecyclingMonster - The city will host four recycling and waste reduction workshops for residents and business owners beginning on Wednesday.
The informational workshops dubbed “Better Recycling, Better Burgh” will address changes in recycling guidelines, the city’s new waste regulations and questions about hard-to-recycle items.
Pittsburgh’s recycling revenue has plummeted in recent years because of changes in the global market — mainly stemming from China’s new rules on which recyclables it will import.
Pittsburgh is not alone: Residents in other local municipalities, including several in the South Hills, have had to find alternate options for recycling glass after several townships and boroughs decided to stop collecting it.
City residents and business owners can attend the workshops on June 5 and June 12 at the Construction Junction Community Room at 214 N. Lexington Ave., North Point Breeze. Workshops for business owners will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and resident workshops will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
