GENESEE COUNTY, MI -- A county-wide Recycle Day collection event is coming back to the Flint area this month.
The collection event is designed to take in hard-to-recycle items like hazardous waste and electronics.
The free event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 at Carman-Ainsworth Middle School, located at 1409 W. Maple Ave., in Mundy Township.
There will be three additional Recycle Day events on June 21, July 19 and Aug. 23.
Staff will be available to assist attendees in unloading recyclable items from their vehicles. Recyclers are asked to enter the middle school from West Maple Avenue on the north side.
“Many of the items collected at Recycle Days are harmful to the environment. It is amazing to see so many residents excited to participate in recycling by bringing their items in for free and responsible disposal,” said Derek Bradshaw, Director of the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission, in a news release.
Last year, the Genesee County Recycle Day event brought in nearly 186,000 pounds of waste among 1,200 residents that attended.
A full list of items that are accepted and not accepted can be found on the Recycle Day website or by contacting the hotline at 810-762-7744.
