SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Lexington, Kentucky-based Rubicon Technologies Inc. announced launch of “Trash or Treasure”- a campaign aimed at reducing waste accumulated during seasonal celebrations throughout the year. The campaign will kick start with Halloween 2023.
Over the past four years, Rubicon’s Halloween waste reduction campaign has successfully diverted hundreds of thousands candy wrappers from landfills. The campaign participation has witnessed tremendous exponential growth every year. Rubicon is now celebrating the fifth year of the program with a new name and expanded targets.

As part of the campaign, schools, community organizations, and small businesses will be provided with easy-to-assemble mail-back recycling boxes. These boxes could be filled with discarded candy wrappers and returned via the campaign partner, UPS.
According to estimates, the U.S consumes approximately 600 million pounds of candy during the Halloween season.
There will be special campaigns around Valentine’s Day, and other seasonal festivities in 2024.
Dan Sampson, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Rubicon said that the campaign highlights its mission to end waste. He thanked all the schools, community groups, and small businesses for their enthusiastic participation in the program over the past several years.
