George Mason University Launched Pilot Glass Recycling Initiative

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): George Mason University announced launch of a pilot glass recycling initiative at its Fairfax campus. Recycling bins will be placed at several areas across the campus. These bins will accept glass of any colour. They must be clean and can include lids and labels.

The glass bottles and jars must be removed from any bags that are used to transport them and placed inside the trailer openings. The bags should not be disposed of along with glass bottles and jars. Also, glass must not be left outside of the trailers.

Several Northern Virginia localities had earlier included glass as part of their recycling program. However, high costs associated with them resulted in many of these programs eliminating glass. Instead, many of these localities have started providing drop-off locations where residents are allowed to deposit glass for recycling.

There are two on-campus options for disposal or recycling-glass trailers or trash. The trailer locations will be at Soiuthside and Lot R (near Potomac Heights) in the first and third weeks of the month. The locations for the second and fourth weeks of the month will be Rogers Hill and Student Townhouse. The trailers will shift between odd and even week locations on Saturdays.
