SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The City of Virginia Beach has voted in favour of continuing with curbside recycling pickup services. The existing contract with TFC Recycling is due to end on 30th June, 2024. Nearly 125,000 homes have registered themselves with curbside recycling services.
The Councilmembers voted on the budget Tuesday night. The vote approves extension of curbside recycling services, but at an added cost. Consequently, there will be an increase in fee for recycling. However, there will be no interruption in services. Although an official confirmation is yet to come, it is believed that customers will have to pay around $3 as additional amount every month.

The City had carried out a survey among residents to collect their opinion on whether to keep curbside recycling services. A good majority of more than 11,000 people who took part in the survey opted for continuation of the services.
The City has not yet confirmed whether it will appoint a new contractor or continue with TFC Recycling.
Meanwhile, TFC Recycling announced that it will offer residents an opportunity to tour of their MRF. Community organizations, high schools, college students, businesses and individuals are invited to take part in the tour, which will provide a better understanding of what can and cannot be recycled.
