Fostoria, OH Residents Offered New Recycling Program

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Solid Waste District and the City of Fostoria Mayor’s Office announced that new recycling bins will be made available for Fostoria residents at Foundation Park, 1225 S. Union St. site, where household recyclable items may be dropped off. The bins will be provided by The Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Solid Waste District (OSS).

The new initiative is aimed at ensuring easy recycling access to residents, thus promoting environmental sustainability. It is expected to lead to significant reduction in waste. Moreover, it will have positive impact on the community, noted Gary Baty, OSS Solid Waste District Executive Director.

Mayor Don Mennel said that the project has been delayed than expected. There are cameras installed at the site, which will prevent people from leaving garbage or other non-recyclable items. Also, there will be separate bins for collecting clothes and shoes. Mennel thanked OSS for implementing the program and said that the City looks forward to collaborate with them on future projects such as tire recycling.

The new bins will accept a wide range of recyclables including paper, cardboard, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles and containers, in addition to aluminum and steel cans.
