SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Medford, MA Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn has been selected as the winner of a prestigious National Recycling Award by The National Recycling Coalition (NRC). The award is granted to individuals, programs, and organizations in appreciation of their contributions to sustainability, innovation, and the promotion of recycling initiatives nationwide.

Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn received recognition for her steadfast dedication to promoting Zero Waste programs. In July of this year, she began implementing curbside composting for 19,000 houses in a phased rollout. By promoting the project with instructional films, taking part in several composting and giveaway events, and spearheading social media outreach initiatives meant to increase community participation rates, the mayor has played a crucial role.
Mayor Lungo-Koehn expressed her gratitude to the National Recycling Coalition for this honor. She continued by saying that the honor is a testament to the community's collective effort and commitment to elevating Medford to the forefront of sustainability.
The chair of the National Recycling Coalition's Awards Committee, Ann Gibbs, praised the winners' creativity and initiative, stating that they motivate others to take on greater challenges.
