FAYETTEVILLE - The recycling dropoff containers at the Fayetteville Athletic Club will move to the Northwest Arkansas Mall on Monday.
The new dropoff location will be on the mall's southwest parking lot near JCPenney, according to a news release. The athletic club has resumed limited operations.
The city's curbside recycling program is still on hold. The service was halted in March to limit workers' potential exposure to the coronavirus and to reduce the chances of community spread, according to the release. Yard waste and trash collection services remain unchanged. Extra trash charges are being waived because of the increased volume of items in trash carts.
The other recycling dropoff sites available 24 hours a day are:
• Happy Hollow Recycling Dropoff, 1420 S. Happy Hollow Road.
• Marion Orton Recycling Dropoff, 735 W. North St.
• Boys & Girls Club, 560 N. Rupple Road.
• Gary Hampton Field, 2790 N. Salem Road.
Residents are reminded to only place recyclable material in the bins and to put the items in the proper collection containers. Sorting is crucial in keeping loads free from contamination so they will be accepted by recycling mills, according to the release.
Attendants at the Happy Hollow and Marion Orton dropoffs are practicing social distancing and will not help with items, according to the release.
Automated recycling services, such as collection at commercial cardboard and paper dumpsters and glass and food waste carts, is continuing.
