Calhoun County residents will have an opportunity to declutter and get rid of old TVs, microwaves, cords and the like on Saturday.
Calhoun County and the city of Battle Creek are partnering to host a free electronics and appliance collection event from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the former Kmart building at 200 Capital Ave. SW. in Battle Creek. Commercial material will not be accepted.
Because high attendance is expected and because of necessary COVID-19 precautions, residents are asked to wear a mask and stay in their vehicles while items are unloaded by volunteers.
Battle Creek will next host an electronics and Styrofoam collection on Aug. 22.
The Marshall Recycling Center is open on Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 5 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m. until noon; and the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Recycling should be sorted and placed in a non-returnable container (bag or box) and volume must be limited to what would fit in a 96-gallon curbside cart.
