Memorial Congregational Church, 26 Concord Road, Sudbury, will host its semi-annual electronic recycling and document shredding from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 22.
The event will be contactless in keeping with guidelines on containing the spread of COVID-19. Participants will simply drive up with their shredding and/or electronic recycling items.
The fee for shredding continues to be just $7 per copy paper box or brown grocery bag, and a worker will remove the bags of documents to the truck which will shred the documents as the party waits. The truck is equipped with closed-circuit TV so parties can actually watch the shredding if they wish.
Then they can drive over to the recycling truck where a volunteer will say how much is owed: prices vary from $25-40 for a TV, $15 for a computer monitor, to $5 for a box of electric cords; and workers will remove the items from the vehicle to the recycling truck which is operated by a state-licensed electronic recycling company who will properly dispose of all items. They will accept anything with a cord, including washing machines and air conditioners. In addition, they will accept any type of battery, printer ink cartridges and toner cartridges.
Participants may pay in cash (preferably exact change just to cut down on money handling), by check or by Venmo. For more information, email recycle@MCCSudbury.org or shredding@MCCSudbury.org or call 978-443-3885.
