Local list of trash & recycling changes for Thanksgiving holiday


HAMPTON ROADS - Cities are releasing information about changes to waste collection services due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Here's a list of the cities that have released their changes:

Chesapeake

Thursday November 26 route will be collected on Friday, November 27 and Friday, November 27 route will be collected on Saturday, November 28

Norfolk

The adjusted day for trash that was supposed to be picked up on Thanksgiving (Nov. 26) is Saturday, Nov. 28. There is no change in Black Friday trash pickup. Any bulk waste pickups need to be called in by Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Portsmouth

Thursday November 26 route will be collected on Wednesday, November 25 and Friday, November 27 route will have no changes.

Suffolk

Trash regularly scheduled for pickup on Thursday, November 26 will be collected on Friday, November 27. Trash regularly scheduled for pickup on Friday, November 27 will be collected on Saturday, November 28. TFC Recycling will also follow the holiday schedule with the Thursday, November 26 regular recycling routes being collected on Friday, November 27, and the Friday, November 27 regular recycling routes being collected on Saturday, November 28. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds you that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. Businesses located in the Downtown Business Overlay District (DBOD) will have their collection day run on the regular schedule on Friday, November 27. Virginia Beach

Solid waste and recycling collection will not be provided Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26. Residents who would normally receive city trash and recycling services on Thursday, Nov. 26, will instead receive service on Saturday, Nov. 28. Friday collections will be on Friday, as usual.

Williamsburg

The holiday does not affect trash, recycling, or leaf collections in the City. It is a Blue Route Week for leaf collection.
