Laws and regulations have been put in place in all 50 States, to help prevent scrap and metal thefts across the United States. These laws impose varying requirements - including purchase restrictions, recordkeeping requirements, and oftentimes reporting and hold responsibilities - on scrap metal purchasers. Each state provides a unique set of laws and requirements for dealers, law enforcement, and businesses in this industry.
