SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Ag Tire Roundup event held at the Wayne County Fairgrounds on June 28 collected around 1,600 scrap tires for recycling from as many as 57 farms.
The collected tires from the event were taken to Willig Tire facility for further processing. The company will recycle and reuse all the collected tires. The dual shredding process will separate rubber from steel. The rubber will be used as fuel for power plants and for other purposes. The steel will be reused to make beams.

It was funded by grants from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s Recycle Ohio program, Wayne County Health Department and the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Recycling District.
