SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Belmar, NJ Mayor and Council announced hiring of a new recycling services provider.
During its meeting held on 6th December, 2022, it approved a resolution awarding its waste recycling services contract to Tinton Falls-based DeLisa Waste Services. The contract, valued at $1.1 million, will be for a period of five years. It will be in effect from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2027. As per agreement, the borough will pay to the contractor a sum of $182,000 in 2023, $200,000 in 2024, $220,000 in 2025, $242,000 in 2026, and $266,000 in 2027.

Belmar has a previous association with DeLisa Waste Services. It had entered into a five-year contract with the company in 2018, but the contract lasted only for a year and was terminated afterwards. Since then, the collection and recycling of items have been handled by the Belmar Public Works Department.
The Mayor and Council resolution noted that DeLisa was awarded the contract once again, as it turned out to be the lowest bidder for the new contract as well. It is not clear whether the new contract will bring about any changes to the existing pick-up schedule.
The items accepted by recycling pickups include plastic and glass containers, metal cans and paper & cardboard.
