COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County and the Southwest Michigan Solid Waste Consortium hosted a scrap tire recycling event this past Saturday behind the Health and Human Services Building on Marshall Road.

Supervised inmates from the Branch County Jail unloaded tires from trailers, truck beds, vans, and cars into semi-trailers that were dropped off last Friday.

Branch County Administrator Bud Norman says the trailers will be picked up on Monday.

The annual scrap tire recycling event is open to Branch County residents who were allowed to donate up to 10 tires at no charge.

The only tires collected were passenger vehicle and pickup tires.

The event is made possible by a Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Scrap Tire Grant.
