Brightmark, Country Meadow Partners on New Recycling Project

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Country Meadow Elementary School in Ashley has partnered with leading circular innovations company, Brightmark LLC, on a new recycling project that emphasizes on the need to recycle plastic waste. The company’s Ashley plant recycles plastics and convert them into fuel.

The first-of-its-kind recycling program, launched in September last year, aims to provide education to students on recycling plastics. The program has so far recycled nearly 3,000 pounds of plastic. Brightmark and Country Meadow Elementary aims to divert approximately 4,000 pounds of plastics from landfills this school year.

As part of the program, Brightmark provides special recycling bins known as “Brightmark Bin”, to collect the waste. The “Recycling Ambassadors” appointed from each grade are responsible for ensuring that the recycling rules are followed strictly. They are also in charge of tallying the pounds of plastic waste being recycled through the program.

Jane Bitting, principal of Country Meadow Elementary stated that the school is thrilled to collaborate with Brightmark in its plastics recycling program. The program will not only educate the students on sustainability and innovation, but will also enable them to address environmental challenges.
