BRIGHTON TWP. — If old tires are taking up space around your property, a variety of new opportunities to recycle this bulky debris is coming to Beaver County.
The Independence Conservancy will be collecting tires and wheels this fall, beginning at the Brighton Township Road Department at 9 a.m. Sept. 25. There is no limit to the number of tires or wheels an individual or small business can bring to the event.
Visitors to the event are asked to stay inside their vehicles at all times during the loading and unloading process to observe social distancing requirements.
A disposal fee will be charged for the tires, with auto and light truck tires up to 18 inches costing $3 off the rim or $5 if still on the rim. SUV tires over 18 inches off the rim will cost $5 each.
Additional recycling events will occur throughout October. Recycling dates include:
- Oct. 2 at the Hookstown Fair Grounds, 9 a.m. to noon
- Oct. 9 at the Ambridge Borough Building, 9 a.m. to noon
- Oct. 23 at the Aliquippa Street Department, 9 a.m. to noon
