Carteret County to Host Hazardous Waste Recycling Event


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Carteret County, North Carolina announced that it plans to hold a free hazardous waste recycling event for its residents. The event is scheduled to take place this Saturday, October 21st, 2023 8.00 AM to 1.00 PM at Health Department parking lot at Carteret County Health and Human Services building, 3820 Bridges Street, Morehead City.

The free event is restricted to residents of Carteret County and proof of residence will be compulsory to participate in the event. On-site staff will be available to collect materials from residents, thereby allowing them to remain in their vehicles.

The accepted materials during the event include cooking oil, drain openers, batteries, latex and oil paint, paint thinners, automotive fluids such as gasoline, used motor oil and anti-freeze, lawn, garden and farm pesticides and fertilizers. There will be a limit of 10 gallons of paint per vehicle.

However, the event will not accept a wide range of materials such as gas cylinders, explosives, commercial waste, ammunition as well as infectious, biological or radioactive wastes. All items must be properly labelled or easily identified, said the county press release issued in connection with the event.

The event offers county residents an opportunity to safely dispose of their unwanted household hazardous materials.
