This Saturday’s recycling event is changing.
According to a release from the Department of Public Works the collection of scrap metal and tires is postponed until later this spring.
The collection of household items and furniture for Household Goods of Acton and Habitat for Humanity is taking place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Compost, Storage & Recycling Center on 108 Carlisle Road.
The Compost Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for residents to drop off yard waste and cardboard.
For the Household Goods collection, residents can bring tables, bookcases, chairs, couches, and dressers. The agency can also use pots and pans, dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, and small appliances like toasters, toaster ovens and slow cookers. Bed sheets, blankets, comforters and towels will also be accepted. Visit either https://householdgoods.org/ or https://www.bedfordma.gov/recycling to view the full list of acceptable items.
All items should be clean, in good working condition, and not damaged (e.g. cracked, chipped, torn, stained, etc.).
“We realize that postponing the metal and tire collection will be an inconvenience to some residents,” said Ed McGrath, Bedford’s Recycling Coordinator. “We have to scale back Saturday’s event but will be rescheduling a collection for these items in May.”
