City of Slidell Launched Glass Recycling Program

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): A voluntary glass recycling program has been introduced for the citizens of Slidell by the City of Slidell and Keep Slidell Beautiful in collaboration with Coastal Environmental Services, Glass Half Full, and Lemon Tree Recycling. Residents will not be charged for the glass recycling drop-off service, which will begin on April 12, 2025.

Beginning on April 12, every second Saturday of the month, residents of Slidell can dispose of their recyclable glass at the designated recycling location. The location, which will be available from 9:00 a.m. until noon, is in the Heritage Park parking lot near the intersection of Bayou Lane and Pennsylvania Avenue.
A recycling facility in St. Bernard Parish will receive the recyclable glass that was gathered at the location. Glass Half Full will run the plant, processing the glass to create glass cullet, which will then be remelted into new glass goods for use in a variety of coastal restoration projects.

According to Mayor Borchert, the glass recycling services will help with significant projects like coastline restoration in addition to lowering waste. "The program's launch is a win for the City and its environment," he continued.
