City of Terre Haute Announced Opening of New Recycling Center

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The City of Terre Haute has announced opening of a new recycling centre. The new facility is located at the city's street department, 1329 Deming Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807. It will remain open from 8 AM to 4 PM weekdays. This is the third recycling location in Terre Haute.

The City of Terre Haute partnered with Vigo County’s solid waste district to launch the new recycling center.

The new recycling center will provide Terre Haute residents with a new place to drop off their aluminum cans, paper and cupboard. For many residents, who used to travel a lot for discarding these items, the facility offers an option much closer to them, thereby helping them to save their gas bills.

Before the opening of the facility, the residents in the area used to drive to Vigo County's solid waste site on north side of the City. Another option was ISU’s recycling center, but the limited hours of the facility was a deterrent.

Since assuming office in January, Mayor Sakbun has been listening to pleas by residents to have more recycling centers. Several surveys conducted in the city too had highlighted the need for increased recycling, which in turn will help th City reduce its impact on the environment, Sakbun added.
