SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) has awarded a $50,000 grant to the City of Texarkana, AR to support recycling initiatives for e-waste. It is a component of the $200,000 grant that was given to three organizations throughout the state with the goal of preventing electronic trash from ending up in landfills.
The award funds will be used to expand the City's existing e-waste collection facility. The proposed project calls for the addition of places for material loading and unloading. In order to reduce environmental pollution, the city also intends to construct a covered space for the storage of collected electronic garbage.

Additionally, Rogers' Esco Processing and Recycling was awarded a $500,000 grant to collect and recycle cathode ray tubes (CRTs), which include computer monitors and television sets.
Each year, the ADEQ gives out e-waste grants. It gave out a total of $250,000 to qualified organizations last year. State agencies sell their excess used computers and other equipment to fund the grant program.
