Houston-based CompuCycle, a provider of information technology (IT) asset recycling, has announced the expansion of its plastics recycling system, enabling the company to sort plastics from electronics by polymer for reuse in manufacturing.

CompuCycle says it can now process metals and plastics in-house, without the need for additional downstream service providers.

“Properly managing all components of electronics is a cornerstone of sustainability and environmental responsibility,” says Kelly Adels Hess, chief executive officer of the company. “Making single-polymer plastics that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can reuse to produce new electronics or other products while adhering to international recycling standards is a game changer for domestic companies and those that need their plastics shipped globally.”

Sorting plastics by polymer type helps CompuCycle maintain a circular economy that minimizes reliance on finite resources, aids in supporting OEM sustainability goals and serves as a best practice in e-scrap recycling, according to the company.
