DeKalb County CHaRM Recycling Facility Received Grant from Beverage Industry

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Atlanta-based nonprofit Live Thrive announced receipt of grant amounting $25,000 from American Beverage. The grant money will fund purchase of Live Thrive’s Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM) recycling facility in DeKalb County to add a new baler equipment.

The County drop-off recycling center is Live Thrive’s second CHaRM facility in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The improved facility will result in collection of approximately 26 million pounds of new recyclables, including nearly 1.5 million pounds of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic. The investment will provide households with additional drop-off site for recyclables.

Such investments will help create a circular economy for all recyclable materials, he added. Meantime, Kevin Perry, president and CEO of the Georgia Beverage Association stated that the investment embodies its continued efforts to invest in Georgia’s environmental future.

The investments are expected to yield nearly 915 million new pounds of recycled PET and more than 87 million more pounds of recycled aluminum over the next ten year period.
