Diageo North America Partnership to Boost Glass Recycling

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Diageo North America, in partnership with ‘Don’t Trash Glass’, has announced expansion of its glass recycling program to the state of Kentucky.

The partnership had collected 2.2 million pounds of glass in its first year of operations in Illinois last year.

It must be noted that the glass recycling rates in both Kentucky and Illinois stands below the national average.

The ‘Don’t Trash Glass’ pilot program was launched in 2021 in the Greater Chicago area. The program had partnered with Diageo’s Smirnoff brand last year to collect ready-to-recycle glass from bars, restaurants and local businesses.

The collected materials are stored and processed by regional glass suppliers, thus preventing them from ending up in landfills.

Also, the program saw increased participation, with cities including Evanston, Rosemont, and Waukegan becoming a part of it.

Through the ‘Don’t Trash Glass’ campaign, Diageo North America aims to increase glass recycling in both the states, where the company owns multiple production facilities.

The company is excited about expanding the program to Kentucky, which is home to iconic brands like Bulleit, Blade & Bow, and I.W. Harper, said Jayant Kairam, Vice President, Society for Diageo North America.
