DNR awarding $100K in grants to counties for recycling electronics

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced on Thursday that it is providing $100,000 in grants to rural counties for hosting recycling electronics events between September 2024 and December 2025.

The DNR says it will give priority to projects in counties that do not have a permanent collection site. This includes Iowa County.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on July 31.

The DNR gave more than $135,000 to 29 projects in 18 counties. DNR E-Cycle Wisconsin coordinator Sarah Murray says it looks forward to helping more rural communities offer electronics collection to residents.

“Our goal is to expand access to convenient, affordable electronics recycling across Wisconsin,” Murray said.

More than 400 million pounds of electronics have been recycled through E-Cycle Wisconsin from households and schools since the program first started.
