Event in Mexico focuses on Latin American plastics recycling

The Singapore-based Centre for Management Technology Pte. Ltd. (CMT) has announced topics and speakers for the 20th LAPET – Circular Plastics Packaging LATAM conference it is hosting in Mexico City this Nov. 13-14.

CMT says the two-day event has been planned to provide attendees with “insights on the latest in [the] circular plastics value chain, plastics recycling project updates, technology advancements in sorting, collection and recycling, regulatory development” and other topics.

The events planning group says the conference will be held back to back with its Sustainable Flexible Packaging LATAM conference Nov. 12-13 in the same venue, the Mexico City Marriott Reforma Hotel.

The Singapore-based conference host says Latin America “represents an emerging recycling market with significant growth potential” that is hosting “transformative trends like the push for sustainable business models and legislation aligned with the circular economy.”

Adds CMT, “The Mexico recycled plastics market has experienced significant growth and transformation in recent years as the country seeks sustainable solutions to manage plastic waste.”

Among companies and organizations represented on the 2025 Circular Plastics Packaging LATAM conference agenda are: Austria-based packaging producer and recycler Alpla, which has a PET recycling facility in Mexico; global consulting firm Wood MacKenzie; packaging provider Graham Packaging; PET plastic recycling company PetStar and thermoform PET recycler Green Impact Plastics; recycling technology provider Erema Group GmbH; plus Walmart and Coca-Cola.

Also on the speaker roster is an executive from Mexico-based Internacional Disposal Recycling Group (IDRG). That company is opening its doors to conference attendees for a tour of its facility In Lerma, Mexico, which it describes as a 1,200-tons-per month plant that makes Food & Drug Administration (FDA) food-contact grade postconsumer resin (PCR) using polypropylene injection/extrusion technology.

More information on the conference, including how to register, can be found on the CMT Events website.
