A pile of cardboard caught fire and caused $30,000 in damage to a downtown Lincoln recycling facility Thursday afternoon, according to Lincoln Fire & Rescue.
The fire at Green Quest Recycling near 6th and J streets sparked around 2:35 p.m. Thursday.
While the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman said it’s suspected that some cardboard may have come into contact with some combustible oils.
Firefighter crews cycled in and out for hours due to the heat.
No injuries were reported.
