SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): A new recycling report was released by the University of Illinois's Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC) and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Glass, metal (such as aluminum), organics (such as food scraps and yard waste), plastics (such as #1, #2, and #5), and textiles are among the materials that were addressed in the study, according to the final list. In order to gain a better understanding of the recycling and diversion status of each of the aforementioned materials, the study entailed a great deal of research.
By identifying gaps in the necessary recycling capacity, the research is anticipated to be extremely helpful to local governments in the design of recycling programs. Better knowledge of the recycling sector and current regulations can be gained from the report's conclusions.
The recycling report offers further data to support ongoing efforts to increase recycling in Illinois, said Acting Director James Jennings of the Illinois EPA. In addition, he expressed gratitude to everyone who helped make the study a great success.
