Memphis, Tennessee-based International Paper (IP) says its board of directors has elected Tom Hamic as an overall company executive vice president and to the to a newly created role of president of North American packaging solutions.
The global producer of paperboard and packaging, which is in the process of acquiring United Kingdom-based recycled-content board producer DS Smith, says Hamic will report directly to CEO Andy Silvernail. “Effective Sept. 1, Hamic will be responsible for leading the company’s container and containerboard businesses in North America,” states IP.
“Tom is a strategic and effective leader with a long track record of success,” says Silvernail. “The board and I are confident he will lead the team well as we work together to deliver excellence for our customers and profitable growth for our shareholders.”
Hamic joined the company in 1991 and has served in a variety of sales, marketing, finance, planning and leadership roles in the U.S. and Europe, says IP.
In 2009, he was named a company officer and was elected a senior vice president in 2019. Most recently, Hamic has served as senior vice president and general manager of the North American container operations and as IP’s chief commercial officer.
