KSAB to Host Annual Tires-to-Go Recycling Event

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Nonprofit Keep San Angelo Beautiful (KSAB) announced the schedule for its annual tire recycling event. The Foster Communications Coliseum will host the fifth annual Tires-to-Go event starting at 8 AM and continuing until the trucks are full.

According to Charlotte Anderson, Executive Director, KSAB, the event will accept only passenger tires and pickup truck tires. Industrial, agricultural or over-the-road tires will not be accepted. Also, there will be a limit of 25 tires per vehicle. Three 18-wheel trucks will be present on the site during the event. Between 2,400 and 3,600 tires are anticipated to be removed during the event, said Anderson

The tires collected during the event will be sent to Burnett, Texas. These will be chipped into smaller pieces and reused for useful purposes.

The annual recycling event is being organized with the aim of providing its residents with a responsible disposal option. Discarded tires often lead to serious health risks. They have been identified as a major source of water contamination as well. The last year’s event had collected approximately 26,000 tires for safe disposal.

Those interested in volunteering are requested to report at the site by 7.30 AM, so as to complete the paperwork and preparations for the event. The volunteers may have to roll and stack tires, in addition to providing necessary information to participants.
