The city of La Salle will be partnering with A-Team Recycling to host a free electronic recycling event tentatively scheduled 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 26, at Rotary Park.
La Salle residents will be able to sign up for a 15-minute period where they can drive through Rotary Park and dispose of their waste — with a limit of two larger TVs per resident.
“A-team recycling will provide all of the labor necessary to unload all of the materials into the truck,” said Deputy Clerk Brent Bader. “The only thing that will be needed from the city level will be staff at the entrance to check IDs.”
The city still is in the initial planning stages of the event as it will try to ensure the drive-thru disposals operates as smoothly as possible.
“We are still fine-tuning a lot, but obviously we are very excited about this,” Bader said.
Bader said the city has received many requests about what to do with their old and broken electronics and up until now they have had to tell residents it must be handled at the county level.
La Salle residents looking to participate will be required to sign up for a time slot online. Those without internet access are encouraged to contact the city for assistance in reserving a time.
Bader is hopeful with the support of this event and through the cooperation with La Salle County, that the city will be able to bring this event back to La Salle on a more regular basis.
