Lexington’s recycling center will be closed for a few weeks at the start of 2020 so that improvements can be made to the facility. The Division of Waste Management won’t take recycling materials between January 6th and 19th and will resume collection the week of January 20th.
Nancy Albright, the Commissioner of Environmental Quality and Public Works released a statement saying the changes were long overdue and that “The new equipment will prevent breakdowns and make our service much more reliable.” $2-million in upgrades will include a new conveyor belt and fire protection system will be installed during the shutdown.
