Li-Cycle Collaborated with Daimler Truck to Recycle EV Batteries


SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Leading lithium-ion battery recycling service provider Li-Cycle Holdings Corp. announced partnership with Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) to effectively recycle used lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles. The partnership aims to bolster DTNA’s circular economy approach.

According to company press release, the collaboration will focus on recycling lithium-ion batteries from DTNA electric vehicles at the end of their lifetime, in accordance with DTNA’s comprehensive sustainability strategy which comprises of repairing, remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling battery materials. The partnership will leverage Li-Cycle’s industry-leading recycling technology to ensure efficient recovery of critical materials from used batteries.

Commenting on the partnership, Ajay Kochhar, President and CEO, Li-Cycle noted that it is proud to partner with DTNA to offer support to their sustainability initiatives and carbon-reduction efforts. The company’s environmentally friendly and safe recycling technologies are capable of powering the transition to clean energy, by creating a domestic closed-loop battery supply chain, he added.
