SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The Lincoln Park City Council meeting held in mid-January this year gave approval to Ruby Recycling LLC to set up a new recycling facility in the former Dix Auto Parts store site. It must be noted that the Dix Auto Parts store was ordered to shut down its operations following its failure to produce required documents upon inspection by the Michigan Department of State authorities.
Jeff Sonne, president and chief operating officer of Ruby Recycling noted that the company’s primary focus will be auto recycling. It will buy vehicles and recycle them, in a sustainable manner. Customers will be offered pick-up services as well. All the vehicles will go through a de-manufacturing process where all fluids and valuable material from the vehicles will be removed.
The facility features “big tops” or “greenhouses”, which in turn will ensure that all fluids from the cars are safely maintained with built-in drains to capture any residual fluids from cars while they are being processed, thus ensuring pollution-free surroundings.
Apart from cars, the recycling facility will also buy loose scrap metal. It will not accept loose scrap from general public. Rather, it plans to buy scrap from plumbers, electricians and machine shops.
