LMC Hosts Halloween Candy Wrapper Recycling Program

SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): The month-long candy wrapper recycling campaign at Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) has already begun. On October 14, 2024, the "Unwrap the Waves" recycling initiative was launched with the goal of enticing locals to gather and recycle candy wrappers.

The goal of the recycling program is to make recycling easily accessible to both residents and individuals. It also aims to increase awareness of the environmental effects of the massive amounts of single-use rubbish produced during the Halloween season and the necessity of effective recycling. HallowMarine will provide a distinct space for visitors to recycle the candy wrappers they have gathered.

TerraCycle boxes at different partner locations are where the candy wrappers can be dropped off. The candy wrappers will be gathered and delivered for recycling thanks to Loggerhead's efforts. Candy wrappers will be accepted at the community partner venues for a month, ending on November 11, 2024. It should be mentioned that in 2023, Loggerheads gathered and recycled about 309,000 candy wrappers.

Given that the majority of rubbish ends up in landfills or is dumped into rivers and seas, the campaign is quite important.
