WASHINGTON TWP. — Many times, holiday gifts come packaged in Styrofoam and after the holiday season, it ends up in landfills.
It takes around 500 years for Styrofoam to break down.
The Centerville Washington Park District is partnering with Sustainable Centerville and Eco Development to help the community recycle Styrofoam.
“It can be made into surfboards, coolers, car seats, helmets, all sorts of things that people use all the time,” explained Washington Park District Recreating Supervisor Alison Pifer.
On January 2nd, people can drop off Styrofoam at the Centerville Washington Park District’s driveway on North Main Street.
Once the Styrofoam is donated, it will be sorted and taken away to be re-used.
The event runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
