Mike Trebilcock, MCPC chairman and CEO, in a statement, noted that improper disposition of e-waste leads to significant environmental threats. The annual e-recycling event provides a convenient and eco-friendly solution for residents to treat their discarded electronics responsibly. MCPC is excited to collaborate with Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Cleveland Zoological Society for the fourth annual e-recycling event, he added.
The e-recycling event will accept a wide range of electronic items including computers, laptops, monitors, printers, and televisions. The electronic devices that are collected during the event will be recycled at its Secure Technology Asset Disposition (STAD) center in Old Brooklyn. The money earned through the event will be used in support of gorilla conservation efforts.
The MCPC “Go Green Machine” truck will also be present at the event. The truck provides colourful graphics, aimed at educating the community on the importance of good recycling practices and the impact of technology devices on gorilla population across the world.
