The Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI) is finalizing the planning for the second edition of its International Business Summit (IBS), which will take place July 25-26 at the Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park in Bangkok.
The MRAI’s first edition of the event attracted several hundred people to the same site last August.
The association, which represents processors and traders of recyclable metals and other commodities throughout India, says its IBS2024 event “aims to promote circularity and the use of recycled materials to reduce carbon footprints.”
MRAI says it is inviting recyclers from around the world to the event, which it says has support from several recycling associations beyond the borders of India, including the Washington-based Recycled Materials Association (ReMA), the Brussels-based Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), the Dubai-based Bureau of Middle East Recycling (BMR), the British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA) and the Japan Automotive Recyclers Alliance (JARA).
Corporate sponsors for this year’s event include Ahmedabad, India-based Laxcon Steels Ltd. and New Delhi-based Arham Alloy & Steel Pvt. Ltd.
The association says IBS2024 will offer attendees “unparalleled networking opportunities and industry insights,” involving “with global industry leaders and pioneers.” Also in attendance will be Shri. Nagesh Singh, the ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand.
Topics on the MRAI event’s agenda include “sustainability, scrap material demand-supply dynamics, pricing outlook, policy impacts, technological advancements and best recycling practices,” says the association.
Recycling markets to be addressed include ferrous steel, stainless steel, batteries, aluminum and copper, with insights anticipated from traders, processors and information service providers.
This year, MRAI says it is expecting more than 800 delegates from more than 35 countries to be on hand, “including industry leaders, analysts, policymakers, technocrats and [other] stakeholders.” More than 15 exhibitors also have booked space at the event, says MRAI.
“Enhancing the use of recycled content is crucial for advancing towards a sustainable future, minimizing carbon footprints and safeguarding natural resources,” says Sanjay Mehta, the association’s mission.
For global recycled commodities traders, the conference venue also “offers a unique opportunity to visit and explore leading companies in Thailand and witness their exemplary recycling initiatives and practices firsthand,” states MRAI.
