CANANDAIGUA — Ontario County residents will be able to recycle confidential paper and rigid plastic items in June.

The Ontario County Department of Sustainability and Solid Waste Management has scheduled a confidential paper shredding event from 8-11 a.m. June 8 at the Hopewell Highway Department, 2716 County Road 47, Hopewell.

Registration is required and can be made until June 6. To register, go to recycle@ontariocountyny.gov or call 585-393-3090. People are limited to five legal-sized boxes per household. No business or commercial papers waste will be accepted.

In addition, there will be a bulky and rigid plastics recycling event from 8-11 a.m. June 15 at the Ontario County Landfill, 3555 County Road 49, Seneca. It is free and open to all county residents. People should review the rigid plastic recycling guide for a list of acceptable materials. All items should be clean and cannot contain debris, excessive dirt, or chemical residues.

Larger items should be disassembled.

Registration is required by going to recycle@ontariocountyny.gov or by calling 585-393-3090. Registration is open until June 12 or until full.
