SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Painesville City Council has approved a measure that extends the city’s garbage, yard waste and recycling contract with Browning-Ferris/Republic Services. The decision was made by a 6-0 vote during the Council meeting held on 17th January, 2023.
The City’s seven-year contract with the recycler was originally scheduled to expire in June this year. However, it included an option which allowed both parties to mutually extend the same for an additional period of three years.

As per the extended contract terms, the garbage and yard waste will be collected at a price of $18.86 per month in eighth year. The price for collection in ninth and tenth year will be $19.61 per month and $20.40 per month respectively. Also, the monthly cost of recycling collection will be $2.82 in eighth year, followed by $2.93 and $3.05 in ninth and tenth years, said the Council press release.
The price for the ninth year, as per the contract, is almost equivalent to the price it paid under a previous contract with Waste Management.
The recycler will pick up recyclable goods every other week. Also, yard waste will be collected every other week from mid-April to mid-December and in the initial two-week period in January.
