Pembroke recycling center set to reopen


PEMBROKE - As Phase 1 of the state’s reopening plan takes affect, Pembroke residents can begin to get rid of accumulated recycling and yard waste.

According to a post on the town’s website, the recycling center will open on Tuesday, May 26 for leaves and grass clippings, as well as cardboard and glass. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To maintain social distancing, cars will wait in line to get into the facility, a limited number will be allowed inside at a time, face coverings will be required when outside of a vehicle, the “Take it or Leave it” area will be closed, and no one will be allowed to loiter.

On May 30, the recycling center will open for the disposal of bulky items including appliances, mattresses, construction and demolition loads, fixtures and other items that require a fee.

A sticker is required to enter the recycling center and the fee schedule is posted on the website.

The recycling center initially closed on April 2 due to the pandemic, according to the website.

Other facilities opening in the second half of Phase 1, which started Monday, include hair salons, pet groming, car washes, office space and retail spaces.
