Railroad closures, recycling collection changes ahead for New Braunfels residents

Union Pacific will close a number of railroad crossings in New Braunfels for maintenance beginning Saturday, Sept. 21.

The first to close will be the railroad crossing on North Walnut Avenue on Saturday.

On Monday, Sept. 23, Union Pacific crews will be working on the railroad crossing on Wald Road. On Tuesday, Sept. 24, they will be working on the railroad crossing at North Live Oak.

Closures will be from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. These dates are estimates and may be subject to change.

Drivers are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly.

Changes to the city of New Braunfels’ recycling pickup schedule are set to go into effect Monday, Sept. 30.

Recycling will be now picked up every other week, operating on an A/B schedule. Some customers will see a change in the day of the week their recycling is collected. There will be no change in residential recycling collection costs.

For garbage collection, residential rates and collection days will remain the same — with the exception of about 2,000 customers that will have garbage collected on a different day of the week.

More information on collection routes and schedules can be found at: www.newbraunfels.gov/trash.
