Columbia curbside recycling and trash collection will be canceled Wednesday due to extreme predicted wind chill, according to a news release from City of Columbia Utilities.
After Wednesday, both recycling and trash collection will be delayed by one day each. Wednesday's recycling and trash will be collected Thursday, Thursday's will be collected on Friday and Friday's on Saturday.
The city suggests residents secure their recycling and trash in sealed bags and place the bags on the curb no earlier than 4 p.m. the day before the rescheduled collection day.
The city also suggests residents postpone their fiber recycling to next week since the items might be blown away by the strong winds, city spokeswoman Patricia Weisenfelder said.
