BIG RAPIDS — Changes may soon come to the recycling schedule in Big Rapids.

"We're just trying to address things that have been a problem, and I think this is going to help with that," City Manager Mark Gifford said.

In a letter to the commission, Gifford said Republic Services is offering a change to how recycling is picked up in the city. This would address some logistical issues that some residents have been experiencing.

"The change is to pick up recycling every week, but half of the community would be one week and the other half the following week. The dividing line would be State Street," he said.
