SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Despite significant weather-related damages and uncertainty surrounding tariffs and credits, Republic Services, a leading solid waste collection firm, announced a positive start to the year. Meanwhile, the business announced notable advancements in its sustainability programs.
In the first quarter of this year, the corporation reported $4.01 billion in revenue. This represents a little 3.8% increase over the same quarter last year. Net income during the first quarter of 2025 was $495 million, a 9% increase from the previous year. The adjusted EBITDA increased to $1.27 billion, an 8.8% increase over the previous quarter. Additionally, according to a press statement from the business, Republic Services posted an EBITDA margin of 31.6%.

The company opened two recycling facilities and one new renewable natural gas facility in the first quarter of the year. It opened the polymer center in Indianapolis in March. During the quarter, it also reopened a recycling facility in Anaheim.
Due mostly to the severe weather-induced delay in the large container market, the first quarter of 2025 saw a little 1.2% decrease in volumes. In the meantime, revenue for the company's environmental solutions division increased from $440 million to $466 million in the first quarter.
The business plans to spend more than $1 billion on acquisitions this year, up from over $358 million in 2024.
