SEATTLE (Recycling Monster): Republic Services has issued a challenge to customers to recycle plastic water bottles in honor of Earth Month. Just three of ten bottles are recycled, by the way. This indicates that seven out of ten water bottles are thrown away when they could be recycled with ease.
Through its network of facilities, Republic Services recycles plastic bottles and jugs that are collected from residents' curbside bins and turns them into new items. In 2024, the company is estimated to have recycled over 2.5 million plastic water bottles.

Water bottles may be recycled about six times, according to the business. Empty, clean, and dry bottles are ideal for recycling. The bottle caps don't need to be taken off. Residents were urged to make sure that all water and beverage bottles are recycled. It stated that doing so is not difficult and that this tiny effort will have a significant impact.
The idea that plastic cannot be recycled is merely a myth, according to Pete Keller, vice president of recycling and sustainability at Republic Services. According to him, over 300 million pounds of plastic are recycled annually.
Republic Services and the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) will work together to host a national open house later in May of this year to show the public how recyclables are sorted and processed to produce new, valuable materials.
